Empowering Future Changemakers: Jim & Robbie Dick Social Justice Memorial Scholarship Marks its 4th & final year announcing the 3 awardees
Tucson, AZ - May 6, 2025 — The Jim & Robbie Dick Social Justice Memorial Scholarship proudly announces its 4th and final year of continuing the legacy of two exceptional individuals committed to social justice. Jim and Robbie Dick were relentless champions of equality, justice, and human rights throughout their lives. Their impactful commitment to making a difference has inspired countless individuals. This scholarship seeks to perpetuate their dedication to social justice by empowering the next generation of changemakers. We are delighted to announce the names of the awards of $5,000 each to:
Emile Kwizera of Tucson High School
University of Arizona
Dexter Mitchell of Mica High School
Pace College in New York
Anaira Garcia of Sunnyside High School
University of Arizona
All three of these Tucson area Seniors showed great leadership and commitment to the ideas represented in this Scholarship. This scholarship not only honors the memory of Jim and Robbie Dick but also stands as a beacon of hope for those striving to make the world a more equitable and just place. It provides students with an opportunity to transform their passion for social justice into a meaningful and lasting impact.
It has been a pleasure to administer this scholarship over the last 4 years, and we are grateful for the support of the Dick Family, Iskashitaa Board of Directors Scholarship Committee, Barbara Eiswerth, Ph.D., Executive Director and the excellent Review Panel who gave so graciously their time for this effort.
Iskashitaa Refugee Network is a multicultural intergenerational organization dedicated to reducing food waste through harvesting local food in southern Arizona while integrating UN refugees into the community.

Each week, Iskashitaa’s dedicated team of refugee and local volunteers harvests produce from backyards, commercial properties, and farms throughout Southern Arizona.
