ReFED (Rethink Food Waste Though Economics and Data) estimates that the U.S. wastes 30 percent, or 126 billion pounds of food, this is over $161 billion dollars worth of food in the landfill every year.

FAQs

  • We meet at our garden space in St. Marks at 3736 E. 2nd St. From there we get into the van and go to our harvest locations for the day.

    Please visit our events calendar for current dates and times.

  • First, you’ll meet up with a group of fellow harvesters in the morning at our office at 3736 E. 2nd St.

    Then, we venture off into residential backyards (with their permission), community gardens, and/or the beautiful Tucson desert!

  • No worries! - that's what our harvest leaders are for! You’ll be a pro in no time! If this is your first time volunteering with Iskashitaa be sure to fill out a volunteer waiver which can be found here

  • -Hat

    -Reusable water bottle

    -Sunscreen

    -Closed-toed shoes

    -Gloves (we provide them but you can bring your own)!

    -And anything else that will keep you safe in Tucson’s year-round desert heat- or the early morning cold in the winter.
