As American's, we learn early that Independence day is a day for remembrance for Patriotic celebration. Independence Day, also referred to as the Fourth of July or July Fourth, is a federal holiday in the United States commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776.
The Continental Congress declared that the thirteen American colonies regarded themselves as a new nation, the United States of America, and were no longer part of the British Empire.
Iskashitaa offered it's very own celebration to refugees around the Tucson Community and gave them an opportunity to share in the Independence day festivities. The event took place on Saturday July 8th at the Desert Courtyard Apartments & Casitas, located on Alvernon & Pima.
The party was a potluck with a wide variety of food, spread out family style and refreshments were all refreshing.
As a surprise to many, Desert Courtyard management allowed us to use their pool. It was a huge hit on such a hot day.
The event lasted from 10 in the morning and lasted until 2 in the afternoon. Many happy smiles came from the children and many of the adults present, all in the celebration of the United State's inclusiveness of all current as well as future citizens.
